The International Association for Research on Textbooks and Educational Media will be holding its inaugural Asia Pacific Symposium and Conference at the University of Sydney on Thursday August 26 and Friday August 27, 2004 . The Symposium and conference will be hosted by the Teaching Resources and Textbook Research Unit (TREAT) at the University of Sydney .

 

The Symposium will be preceded by an IARTEM board meeting on Wednesday 26 th of August. There will be a reception for participants in the Conference after the IARTEM Board Meeting to discuss the work of IARTEM.

 

IARTEM is expanding internationally and is establishing an Asia Pacific regional association. The symposium and conference will explore educational publishing training and research in the Asia Pacific Region, as part of the IARTEM's international focus on educational publishing and training.

 

The themes for the symposium and conference will be

 

  • Educational publishing training
  • Educational publishing research
  • International collaboration and Asia Pacific textbook researchers
  • The expansion and development of IARTEM

 

Participants will be encouraged to present national reports on current educational publishing education and training and current research on educational publishing research internationally and in Asia Pacific. These reports will be published in conference proceedings.

Thursday 26 th August

Sessions will be held on

  • Current trends in educational publishing training
  • New course in non-fictional authorship
  • Country reports on the structure and provision of educational training
  • Collaboration and cooperation in designing publishing courses and training

 

 

Friday 27 th August

Sessions will be held on

  • Current trends in educational publishing research
  • Country reports on educational publishing research
  • Preparing for TIMMS and PISA
  • Collaboration and cooperation Asia Pacific textbook researchers

 

Conference Venue

The Conference will be held in the Division of Professional Learning at the University of Sydney .

IARTEM Members $50 Australian Dollars

Non Members $100 Australian Dollars
